I'm head of sourcing for a restaurant, run a buying club, and source directly with farmers. I work inside the food supply chain every day — and I've watched the gap between what food labels claim and what's actually true get wider for years.

I'm building toward something: shorter supply chains, better sourcing intelligence, real producers connected directly to real people. Headwaters is the journal of that work — and a place to think out loud about the technology and ideas shaping where food goes next.



I've spent years on the sourcing and procurement side of the food industry — working directly with farmers, distributors, and vendors to put real food on tables.

What I kept seeing was a growing gap between what food labels claim and what's actually true. Marketing language that sounds meaningful but isn't. Certifications that got watered down. Inputs and additives that never make it onto the ingredient list.

So I started talking about it. I'm building Thresh — a barcode scanner that gives you an honest verdict on whether a product is what it claims. I write a weekly newsletter. And I work with food businesses and buying clubs that want clearer sourcing intelligence.

I'm an agro-optimist. I believe we can run the world on real food — but only if enough people know what to look for.
